What is a Nanoparticle?

How it works ...

At La Jolla NanoMedical, we have designed gold nanoparticles into rods, coated them with a biological polymer, and placed antibodies specific for your tumor on the surface.

These particles are so small that you can't see them, but surprisingly, gold is not gold in color when in very small particles.  In fact, gold is "brownish" at this size.  Your doctor will inject a small amount of this brownish-colored gold suspension into the tumor, and you will asked to wait some time for the particles to bind and the swelling to go down, usually overnight.

After the wait, the dermatologist will focus a laser on the tumor, and in about 1 minute your procedure is complete.

No cutting, no scraping, no freezing, no burning.

The tumor is selectively heated and the tumor dies.  Over about 1 month, the area will inflame, then calm, then remodel into a nearly indiscernible spot.
